Stairway to Heaven

In a freezing, icebox-like room surrounded by some rare Tasmanian summer heat, this week the YSA compared the attitudes of two Old Testament figures:  Cain (convicted murderer and suspected also of intent to steal), and Enoch (5-times winner of the Everyone's-Favourite-Guy Award).   On the one hand, Cain was selfish, rebellious, and distanced himself from God.  But Enoch cared for others, was humble and knew God.  It was small steps such as these taken by each which eventually led them to Eternal life (Enoch), or endless misery and woe (Cain).

We can take a look at our lives to see what direction our staircase is going, as even the small things can all add up.  But as President Uchtdorf has clearly stated (in a conference talk), there is no such thing as a "point of no return".  We can always stop, use the Saviour's atonement to repent and begin to step in a new direction.  Let us all strive to ascend the stairway to heaven by doing all we can to be obedient to God's commandments and prove ourselves worthy for Eternal life and exaltation.
